Maurice White is a candidate for Carson City Board of Supervisors Ward 2. The number 1 goal for Maurice is enhancing our superior quality of life. As Supervisor of Ward 2 Maurice will help the Board of Supervisors accomplish this through responsibly prioritizing and funding the Asset Management program and our Fire and Sheriffs Departments. Maurice has the diverse background and experience to help the Board of Supervisors and staff accomplish the priorities our community needs to continue attracting families, visitors, and businesses.
Except for High School in Douglas Co. and Trade School in Phoenix, Carson City has been home for Maurice. He raised his children here. Maurice’s nearly 40 year career as a medium/heavy duty diesel mechanic in both the private and public sectors required varying levels of education, training, and responsibility from entry level to department manager. Maurice’s career found him working in the on & off road transportation, agrarian and construction fields. He also worked as a gardener, laborer, as an outside sales person, and in the restaurant industry. Maurice capped his career as the department manager responsible for all aspects of supplying engines for Co-generation power plants used across North and Central America as well as Asia.
Maurice acquired the skills to collaborate with all manner of people to take action and accomplish the goals of the organizations and companies he worked for and with. Working as a team with the Board of Supervisors Maurice will use his knowledge and unique experience to provide Carson City with timely problem identification and solution delivery.
In retirement Maurice enjoys pursuing his passion of being involved in community enrichment. Much of his time is spent providing input and feedback to local and statewide elected officials Maurice believes that fishing, metal art, and benevolence are important aspects of a happy healthy life. Honesty, hard work, and continued education are a few of the things that are key to being successful.
Recognizing that volunteer and philanthropic work creates a complete community Maurice has, through out his adult life endeavored to be active in his community. While helping create and support various non-profit groups, Maurice further acquired the organizational and communication skills that enabled these organizations to be successful.
It has become popular to ask candidates what they have done for their communities. We include this list of volunteer work not for a pat on the back but to show that for many years Maurice has worked with and supported our community that is his home.
